  • Start exploring community agencies and groups for newcomers that you can connect with once you arrive
  1. Prepare for employment
  • Look at employment options and availability in your field.
  • Contact employment agencies in Grande Prairie to learn more about job availability and application processes.
  • Research having your foreign credentials recognized for employment in Canada.
  • If possible, have the following work-related documents translated into English: a resume, school records or transcripts, and letters of recommendations.
  1. Decide what to pack
  • Pack clothing for all weather conditions: hot, cold and rainy.
  • Learn about how to transport other belongings, such as your pets, vehicles or other large items.
  1. Learn how to get around the city
  • Apply for an international driver's license (IDL).
  • You need to have a valid driver's licence from your home country when you drive with an IDL.
