English as Second Language (ESL)/Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)

If you are coming to Canada as a non-native English speaker, there are options available to help you improve your language proficiency skills.

For Adults:

  • The Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning teaches many English language classes including:
    • Reading Network/ Tutoring
    • International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS) Preparation Course
    • Everyday English
  • ESL In Canada also offers LINC Programs across the province. Learn more by visiting their website
  • Norquest College in Edmonton offers a wide variety of ESL/LINC programs you can do full-time, part-time, in-person or online based on your own schedule and requirements

The Immigrant Access Fund (IAF) offers loans to cover the cost of English or French language courses specific to employment. 

For Children
